Chapter 2. Which Menu Item Settings Inherit Changes to Menu Category?
Chapter 1. Introduction
When you set up a Menu Category, many of the options you set in the Menu Category are inherited by the Menu Items you create under the category. For example, if you create a Mains category and give it a Course setting of 2, any Menu Item you create under Mains will automatically inherit the course 2 setting. If you set a kitchen printer for the Mains category, any Menu Item you create under Mains will print to the printer set under its parent Menu Category.
However, if you later change Menu Category settings, Menu Items do not necessarily inherit the new settings. For example, if you later change your Menu Category‘s kitchen printer (from, say, “Kitchen” to “Patio”), your Menu Items will inherit this change. However, if you change your Menu Category‘s Tax setting (add a tax or remove a tax), the existing “child” Menu Items will not inherit this change.
